Welcome to Navigating the Qu’Appelle Valley.

The Qu’Appelle Valley is legendary throughout the world, but like many of us, although I had heard of it for years I did not really know where it was located. It is also an historic area as it was a natural trail for early settlers to use.

Navigating your way through the valley is a bit tricky, even for people who have lived here their entire lives. So once I made a dedicated search to find this beautiful and scenic area I also began looking for ways to traverse over its entire length.

And thus this website. I was not able to stay in the valley on my first few trips and I was unable to find hidden highways and byways for a while also. Hopefully this site will make that an easier thing for fellow seekers to do.

This website emphasizes the natural beauty of the scenic Qu’Appelle Valley but we wish to do so in a responsible manner.

We do not want to encourage the kind of tourism that might damage this beautiful and scenic area.

The valley is rural and sparsely populated. Many of the roads cannot be traversed in rain or snow. And most roads are very narrow. While of good quality those roads are not suitable for large RV’s or trailers.

The roads in the valley are mostly narrow and a mix of gravel (mostly) and paved.

In bad weather many of these roads are not passable. There are many roads with signs posted saying essentially, ‘do not use this road in bad weather’.

Traveling through the valley you can see that it is pristine and so attractive as a result. It is truly a natural gem of Canada and Saskatchewan.

Let’s be good visitors and enjoy the beauty of this unique place while leaving no trace of our passage.

Please enjoy your virtual visit and if you do visit in person, be kind and courteous.
